         This online/distance version of ST370 will be taught through these web pages. Basically the course consists of Learning from the books Modern Engineering Statistics by Lapin (portions of Chs. 1-11) and The Cartoon Guide to Statistics, and from class notes. This includes regular homework assignments, mostly from Lapin's text. These assignments have been modified to be submitted via WebAssign and are accessible from anywhere by an appropriate browser. A set of four labs to be worked with R or Splus or Matlab. There will be regular homework assignments from the end of each lab and submitted through WebAssign. However, these laboratory assignments require statistical software. This means you will need access to R or Matlab or Splus. There are several options on what software to use and how access it. A simple project that requires planning, random allocation of treatments, data collection, and a final writeup. Two regular exams and a final exam. The final exam will be comprehensive but will be weighted a bit more heavily on recent material from the last third of the course. Distance students are responsible for obtaining exam proctors and arranging time and place details with the proctors. Those taking the course for AUDIT, need a final course garde of D- or better to receive AUDIT credit Those taking the course for S/U, need a final course grade of C- or better to receive a grade of S .
